About the restaurant
The Wyke Down is a food-focused country pub on the outskirts of Andover, offering a relaxed family-friendly service at reasonable prices. The early nineteenth-century barn has been extensively but sympathetically extended to provide a pub with a historical country feel, whilst offering an open, modern experience. It is surrounded by a beautiful camping park and rolling countryside.
Guests can enjoy an à la carte menu or pub food, with local beers and a good selection of wines. Traditional classics such as steaks, fish and chips, roasts, and stone baked pizzas – always made with the freshest, locally sourced ingredients – are on offer as the menu changes to suit seasonal produce.
The Wyke Down Dine at Dome Experience
The surrounding Hampshire countryside provides the perfect setting for a Dine at Dome experience. Guests can escape the daily humdrum and dine in one of two domes set in the grounds of the Wyke Down. This al fresco experience means that the stunning rural views can be enjoyed whatever the weather.
Immerse yourself in the vistas of the southern edge of the North Wessex Downs, and bask in the relaxing scenery as you experience private dining with 360° views. This is a great option for parties of between 6 to 8 people who are looking to have an intimate dining experience, whilst not compromising on atmosphere.
If you are looking for a particularly special evening, our domes are illuminated as darkness falls, creating an unbeatable ambience that all guests will enjoy. The darkening countryside, coupled with the nineteenth-century architecture, makes for a memorable experience that guests will cherish forever.
About the Area
The North Wessex Downs has so much to offer and the Wyke Down has many top attractions on its doorstep. Downton Abbey lies just ten miles away in the form of Highclere Castle, where fans of the TV Show can take tours, see the costumes, go behind the scenes and much more. For gin lovers, the home of Bombay Sapphire Gin, with its Thomas Heatherwick designed glass house, can be found at Laverstoke, where a range of cocktail masterclasses are available.
The Wyke Down sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is popular with walkers and cyclists. The St Mary Bourne to Longparish section of the Test Way passes within a few hundred metres of the pub as it crosses the Walworth Road.
