Formerly Kelvinside railway station building, the Grill and Bar at 1051 Great Western Road is a highly agreeable meeting place. An incredible choice of food from a variety of menus by Steven Caputa is matched with a classically designed wine and cocktail list. At 1051 GWR we try to source food offerings from some of Scotland’s finest suppliers. The fish and shellfish is selected and delivered daily from Scotland’s coastal fishing ports, and our beef is reared locally and dry-aged for a minimum of 21 days. Fruit and vegetables are local and seasonal and the dairy produce is supplied by one of Scotland’s oldest dairy farmers, who boast 5 generations of family farming. We can provide for Coeliac and Vegan customers with ingredients freshly prepared in our kitchens.
Dine at Dome
Our Dine at Dome experience at 1051 GWR is your own, all-weather private hire space. Each of our six domes seats up to eight people having a meal and up to 12 if its drinks only.
Now you can enjoy the security of connected indoor and outdoor space for your special occasion, be it a birthday party, a family anniversary or a business dinner.
Our space hire includes:
- Your own heater
- Bluetooth speaker, that can be paired with your device so you can play your favourite music.
- Night-time mood lighting adding to the experience of dining under the stars.
We are open Monday to Sunday from 12.00.
Bookings are offered at 12.00 till 1.30 (£30 Fee), 14.00 till 15.30 (£30 Fee), 16.00 till 18.15 (£40 Fee), 18.30 till 21.30 and 19.30 till 22.00 (£45.00 Fee).
Please note that the fees for the domes are a hire charge. Your Food and Drink are additional to this.
Sadly we are not allowed to have pets in the domes.

90th birthday party with family
It all went swimmingly with excellent service. The weather was also very kind and made the dome very pleasant

A Must-Try Restaurant
The best restaurant I’ve been to so far. These domes are a super cozy comfortable thing. The service is great.The ribs are insane.
Intimate and Unique Dining Experience
Perfect experience for a catch up. Your own space, intimate and a little bit different. Comfortable furnishings and pretty decor including our own chandelier. There were 4 of us. Blue toothed our own music and had a call button for the waiter/waitress. We did have to wait a bit longer than expected for our main meal but we didn’t notice for a while because it was so lovely, warm and cosy. We went in when it was daylight and came out when it was dark so had the full effect of the twinkly lighting. Food was tasty, well presented and hot.
Amazing experience, but expensive
Amazing experience, cannot recommend enough, especially for couples! The food is soo good and the staff are very friendly. £40 Booking fee is very expensive however, especially for a 4pm booking. But it was worth it for a one off experience

Festive Menu Delightful, Service Needs Improvement
The dome dining experience itself was cosy and the atmosphere was great. The food from the festive menu was amazing, no complaints here. The service was very slow and a lot of our requests were missed.
We had a Globe booked for a party of
6. They look so festive. The service was amazing can’t really comment on
any of the staff as we were served by 4 different team members. There was no
soup left so I couldn’t have a starter but they did bring bread out which I
ate. Couldn’t have the Turkey as they cooked it with the stuffing which
contained nuts so that was a bit of a let down. Everyone else had Turkey and
said it was delicious. We would definitely book again

Excellent 21st Celebration
Everything was great for my
daughters 21st, especially getting an extra cosmopolitan!
Thanks for letting us bring our own cake and delivering to the dome. Shout
out to your manager for being super helpful when we were there and on the
phone, from one Falkirk Bairn to another! Well done!
Birthday Dome
4 of us spent a Saturday evening for
a special birthday. The dome was lovely clean and warm, and played our own
tunes on the speaker.
One of the starter orders was wrong and had to be changed, I asked for bread
with mine but didn’t receive it, we were told we would get the dome until
closing time but then the same server told us an hour later to rush last
order of drinks as needed to be out soon. Ordered a bottle of wine that had
run out so received a more expensive bottle, then the bill had the starter
that was wrong and the bottle of wine not received on it which we had to ask
to be removed.
Food was ok but not special
Overall nice for a special occasion and treat to have your own space.
Excellent service - Good food with a few minor issues
We hired dome for drinks and
starters. Excellent service from our very friendly male server(can’t
remember his name). It worked very well for our party of 10 it would have
been nice to have dinner but it was just too tight. We had dinner in the snug
area of the restaurant which was very nice food on the whole was very good
the steak pie was just a bit tough but everything else was good.
Mixed experience
The food was good and the ambience
in the dome was lovely. The vibe inside the dome was the best part of my
visit.
However, the service was a bit disappointing. We weren’t seated in the dome
until 15 – 20 minutes after the reservation time, left waiting at the bar
which ate into our time in the dome. Waited an hour for main meals, again the
food was good but I’m not sure if it was worth the wait.
I would give the domes a second try in the future to give service a chance to
improve.
Perfection!
I was very pleased with our birthday
dinner for my granddaughter. The whole family thought the beautifully
lit,very warm dome was perfect and all our food was excellent.
1st class experience
We hired a dome for our 30th Wedding Anniversary meal with friends on Saturday 21st October. What a great experience. Setting, food and service was amazing. We have Amy as our waiting staff and she was incredible. Lovely manner, nothing we asked was an issue and service was on point. Would definately reccommend.

The dome was a really lovely way to celebrate our Anniversary. It’s not the cheapest to hire if there’s only 2 using it but worth it for special occasions. The food was absolutely beautiful an the service was fantastic. Will definitely be back

Delightful
We arrived early and the staff was still setting up. We were made very welcomed and asked to take a seat in the bar area. They offered whatever we wanted to drink. Once the dome was ready, we were then moved to the dome. The staff were very attentive and we have only knocked off 1 star because the call button did not work. The food was fantastic and drinks were reasonable. The margaritas were very refreshing and our entire group of 6 people really enjoyed the experience In the dome with own Bluetooth speaker and lights.
Excellent food as usual. The outside domes give a more relaxed, private and personal dining experience. The staff are very helpful and polite. Look forward to our next visit.

We visited for my eldest 18th birthday. I was so glad I chose this place for such a special occasion. The dome was magical. The food was fantastic and the staff were so helpful, friendly and really went out their way to make it special. Would recommend anyone to visit. Thanks for making my daughters birthday special.

First time dining in this restaurant and booking out one of the
domes. The staff were lovely and very attentive. Me and my boyfriend had the
mixed grill and it was cooked beautifully, with some cocktails to finish.
Would highly recommend to anyone and will be back!

We had a table booked for a 40th Birthday in the outside domes last night and it was an incredible experience. Everything went smoothly from start to finish, food and drink was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We would like to point out the service in particular which was exemplary. We were served by the lovely Agnes who was very friendly, efficient and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience. All other staff we came into contact were fantastic too. It is for this reason mainly that we will 100% return. Thank you!

lovely just 1 very small complaint there was a slight smell , maybe add in a
we diffuser , but we will definitely be returning and have recommended it to

Lovely Experience
My partner booked this for my birthday.
The experience was unique and lovely and I really enjoyed our time in the dome.
My only two complaints were that although it states in the information that each booking will be dealt with individually and someone would be in touch, there was no contact made at any point. This was for my last birthday in my 30s so a little theming would have been appreciated and made it even more special. My partner had booked this as a surprise and he had unfortunately missed this detail. The domes are nicely decorated anyway but some personal extra touches would have really added to the occasion.
Also we were a little disappointed that it was only the festive menu. I had made choices from the main A La Carte menu in advance of our arrival and the festive menu was very limited in comparison and we both ended up choosing dishes we were not overly excited about. That said, the food was lovely.
Also we had a lovely waiter looking after us. I’m awful with names but he was from Italy and he was great.
If someone was looking to book this experience I would definitely recommend to them. It was still a lovely experience and we made the most of our time there.
It is unlikely to be an experience I would personally repeat, but this is more down to the costs involved and I feel once was enough.

I don’t usually leave reviews for restaurants however I feel it’s necessary , we went for my boyfriends birthday and I was a bit hesitant to get a steak with it not being a steak restaurant but honestly myself, my bf & his dad all got steaks and we haven’t stopped speaking about how amazing it was, my bf mum got the pasta and ordered side of Mac n cheese and the Mac and cheese was the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever tasted, we live south lanarkshire and it’s about 30 mins for us to get there but we all said today we 100% will be back!
Had 2 Domes booked for afternoon tea as a celebration for my sisters 50th birthday. Everything was fabulous, can’t recommend enough. Visitors from Belfast were with us and loved it!

Great value for money
Dome was very cosy and had a lovely atmosphere. It was also easy
to operate the electricals inside ie. Heater and Bluetooth Speaker. The food
was incredible. The service from the staff was amazing especially Sami and Alessio.
We came to celebrate my husbands birthday. Our two young children came along and both loved the dome. David and the team were all wonderful at explaining how everything worked in the dome and always being on hand if we needed anything. We really enjoyed the different way to dine and found it lots of fun. The food was brilliant and portions really generous even the kids menu. Everything was spotless in the dome, beautiful cushions and blankets were provided to use if required however we found with the dyson heaters the dome became very cosy very quickly. Thanks for a wonderful meal and beautiful setting!
Amazing experience
Went here on my leaving night from work. The staff were so lovely, they went above and beyond for us. Pod was amazing, came with fan, heater, blankets charger and speaker. The food was delicious best steak I’ve ever had 😋

Fabulous
An enjoyable unique experience in one of the pods for my daughters 21st Birthday, before going onto seeing Coldplay. There was one little niggle and that was my daughters steak wasn’t cooked how she liked it, however once we pointed it out it was soon rectified and overall had a fabulous meal. Thankyou David and all the staff.
Pod dining was new to us- really private and great if you just
want some time out . Very comfortable, we were really well looked after,
David was the perfect host. Really lovely dining experience- food was lovely-
well presented and quality ingredients- for something different I would
recommend the Burrata.
